On 11-15 May in Idaho, USA, the National Defense Industry Association (NDIA) is organizing the "Demilitrization Symposium and Exhibition". On 12 May, submissions for papers and panels are due for the Participatory Design Conference (PDC 98), "Broadening Participation", which Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility (CPSR) is organizing on 12-14 November 1998 in Seattle, Washington. On 12-13 May in Enghien-les-Bains, near Paris, the Institut de Relations Internationales et Strategiques (IRIS) is organizing its "Third Annual Strategy Conference" with the participation of French Defense Minister, Alain Richard, and other high-level French and European officials. The four themes are: an European aviation company, human rights and foreign policy, humanitarian action, and high-tech and military industries. On 12-15 May in Beijing, China Electronics International is organizing the "International Defense Electronics Exhibition" (CIDEX '98) while the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) is organizing the "Aviation China '98" meeting. On 13-14 March, the US Department of Commerce is organizing a "Conference on Privacy" which will cover sensitive subjects such as the export of strong cryptography and public use of the same. On 13-14 May in Arlington, Virginia, Silicon Graphics is organizing the third annual "Government Simulation and Imaging Conference" (GSIC'98) with thirty panels and seminars. On 19 May in Washington, the National Military Intelligence Association (NMIA) is organizing its "Information Warfare Symposium" in conjunction with the OSS '98 conference (see our previous Agenda). On 19 May at Fort Belvoir near Washington, the Precision Strike Association (PSA) is organizing its "Annual Precision Strike Programs Review" meeting which is a Secret level conference. On 19-21 May in Shrivenham, England, the Royal Military College of Science (RMCS) is organizing the "European Air Defence Symposium". On 20 May in Tysons Corner, near Washington, the Association of Former Intelligence Officers (AFIO) is holding its "National Intelligence Priorities Review '98 Symposium" with the participation of John Mills, staff director of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, Stansfield Turner, former CIA boss, Scott Harper, FBI Counterintelligence Unit chief, plus representatives of the DIA, the DEA and the INR or State Department intelligence service. Someone should warn the AFIO that DEA means "Drug Enforcement Administration" and not "Agency" ... like the CIA. On 20 May in Chicago, Illinois, Eurofinance is holding its "Euro Roadshow", followed by its two-day training course on "Cash & Treasury Management Solutions in the Asia Pacific for North American Multinationals". On 20-22 May in Washington, the American Helicopter Society (AHS) is organizing its "54th Annual Forum and Technology Display". On 21 May in Tysons Corner, Virginia, Professional Connections in the Intelligence Community (PCIC) is organizing a symposium and exposition in conjunctions with the OSS '98 conference and will include career development seminars and presentations by government and industry talent scouts. On 23-25 May in Bournemouth, England, the British Defence Evaluation and Research Agency (DERA) and ICF Kaiser, Inc. are organizing the "International Chemical Warfare Demilitarization Conference". On 25 May in Paris, the World Bank and the Centre de Formation aux Echanges Internationaux (CFEI) are organizing a conference on "Brazil and the Southern Cone - Keys for Exporting and Investing". On 25-27 May at Futuroscope in Poitiers, France, HP Formation, Phoenix Group, is organizing a training seminar on close protection of VIPs given by Henri Petry, former French GIGN member and former member of the GSPR Presidential protection unit. On 25-29 May in Beijing, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade is organizing the "Third Beijing International Military Logistics Equipment and Technology Exhibition". On 26 May in Amsterdam, the IEEE Computer Society is organizing the "18th International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems" (ICDCS-18). On 26-27 May in Paris, Development Institute International (DII) is organizing a conference on money laundering with senior officials from France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Monaco, and private industry. On 26-28 May in Paris, Euroforum is organizing a conference on "Convergent Fixed and Mobile Telecom Services" with a workshop on "Network Intelligence - The Keystone of Convergence". On 26-29 May in Metz, France, the Georgia Institute of Technology (GIT) is giving a short introductory course in "Infrared Technology and Applications" covering topics such as detectors, terminal homing and target recognizers. On 26-29 May in Kiev, Ukraine, Inter Expo Consult (IEC) is organizing the "Expo Security '98" meeting. On 27-28 May in Santa Clara, California, Miller Freeman Inc. and Sunstone Ventures are organizing the "TechVentures" conference that will be the first of its type and aims to bring together American investors in high-tech Israeli companies. On 27-28 May in Paris, Euroforum is organizing a conference on "Industrial Informatics and the Year 2000 - Mastering the Risks and Identifying the Solutions". On 28-29 May in London, SMI is organizing the "Countermeasures '98" conferences, with high-level participation from France, Great Britain and the US involving both senior military and industry figures. On 29 May, submissions are due to the "Fourteenth Annual Computer Security Applications Conference", entitled "Applying Practical Security Solutions", which Applied Computer Security Associates is organizing in Phoenix, Arizona, on 7-11 December 1998. On 29-30 May in Paris, Shephard Conferences is organizing the "Sixth International Unmanned Vehicles Conference" (UV'98) and exhibition. On 31 May, submissions are due for the "19th AFCEA Europe Symposium and Exposition" (TechNet Europe '98) whose theme is "The New NATO For New Tasks - Technological Responses to Internal Adaptation". This meeting, organized by the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA), will take place on 28-30 October 1998 in Brno, Czech Republic.
