CALL FOR PAPERS TechNet Europe '98 19th AFCEA Europe Symposium and Exposition "The New NATO For New Tasks - Technological Responses to Internal Adaptation" BVV Exhibition Centre, Brno, Czech Republic 28-30 October 1998 AFCEA Europe's October Symposium and Exposition TechNet Europe, traditionally held in Brussels for the past 18 years, will take place in Brno, Czech Republic, this year. The theme and location chosen for this year's annual AFCEA Europe Symposium are in recognition of the internal and external adaptations taking place in the Alliance to respond to its enlargement, expanded mission, and new tasks. The Symposium will include papers relevant to the theme of the Symposium presented by authors selected as a result of this Call for Papers, and recognised subject matter experts invited by the Technical Programme Committee. The Symposium will be conducted in 9 sessions, specifically organised to address the following major topics: a. The New NATO Command Structure b. NATO Enlargement and the Partnership for Peace Programme c. The European Defence Security Identity and the Western European Union d. Communications and Information System Requirements of the NATO Component Commands and Joint Strategic Regional Commands e. Information Warfare f. Computer Assisted Exercises and Development of Associated Synthetic Exercise Environments g. Interoperability - The Never Ending Problem h. Deployable Communications and Information System Capabilities i. Panel Discussion Attendees are expected to include knowledgeable military and civilian representatives of NATO, the NATO nations, the three NATO enlargement nations (Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland), Partnership for Peace nations, and industrial representatives from many nations. Ample time will be provided for visits to the exhibit areas and social events held during the period of the Symposium and Exposition for the purpose of information exchange on national military and civil requirements and industrial capabilities.
