International Workers Rally in Johannesburg Via NY Transfer News * All the News That Doesn't Fit The Marxist Workers School of Johannesburg 1 May, 2000 International Workers Day [Distributed at the central May Day Rally in Johannesburg, May 1 2000] Comrades, today we celebrate the 1st of May, the International Workers Day! It is a day to remember the fallen Revolutionary Working Class men and women who have given their lives in the struggle against Capitalism. It is these men and women, all over the world, who sacrificed their lives to end exploitation, oppression and poverty. Their struggle lives on, in the hearts and minds of millions of working class people in the world -- and in the day to day class struggle of our people! Comrades, today we rededicate ourselves to the historical mission of the struggle of the South African Working Class: the overthrow of the Dictatorship of the Capitalist Class and the erection of Socialism in South Africa. Poverty, unemployment and exploitation can never be solved under Capitalism. What the bourgeoisie, therefore, produces, above all, is its own gravediggers. Its fall and the victory of the proletariat are equally inevitable. South Africa needs a socialist economy under the control of the Working Class! The class contradictions are sharpening in our situation in South Africa. It is the duty of all progressive and revolutionary forces in our country to pose the property question in all areas of struggle! Mass mobilisation of the South African Working Class under a revolutionary leadership is the only way forward towards our common socialist future. Comrades, today we express our Solidarity with our brothers and sisters around the world. The struggle of comrades for Socialism and the struggle of the oppressed people are also our struggles. Long live Proletarian Internationalism! Forward to Socialism! Down with Capitalism! -30- Join the Marxist Workers School of Johannesburg Comrades, come to the Marxist Worker's School!
