Globalization Translated into Polarization in Mexico for nytcamer@ursula; Sat, 12 Feb 2000 05:00:50 -0500 Via NY Transfer News * All the News That Doesn't Fit Globalization Translated into Polarization in Mexico, Say Economists MEXICO CITY, Feb. 9 (El Universal/Infolatina)-- Analysts and economist participating in the 13th Congress of the National College of Economists agreed yesterday with Trade Secretary that globalization in Mexico has improved macroeconomic figures, including lower inflation, fiscal deficit and higher foreign investment since 1994. But the economists added that this growth has not reached the majority of regions, companies or individuals, for which reason it has caused further polarization of the economy. The 3,100 in-bond manufacturers and 300 major national and foreign companies in Mexico represent only 0.12 percent of companies and 5.6 percent of jobs, said researchers.
