Ard Comhairle representative Jimmy Bradley said: "The Patten report is an exercise in tinkering with the RUC rather than delivering the root and branch of change that is necessary. The British government, rather than seizing the opportunity, chose to take the path of least resistance, and the Patten report, which recommends the minimum amount of change is the result." In conclusion, Mr. Bradley said: "The fact that the British government chose even to cherry pick the flawed Patten report shows how the British have no interest in real change in policing. The IRSP will certainly not be calling on working class youth, or anyone else where nationalist or unionist, republican or loyalist, to join this barely reformed RUC.
