Paramilitary Death Threats Against Irish Nationalists Sat, 29 Apr 2000 03:13:50 -0400 Via NY Transfer News * All the News That Doesn't Fit 28 April 2000 PARAMILITARY DEATH THREATS TERRORISING IRISH NATIONALISTS IRSP Demands RUC come clean on who is responsible The IRSP have expressed concern and are calling on the RUC to come clean as to what organisations are responsible. IRSP representative Paul Little said: "As many as seventy nationalists have been warned that their details are in the hands of loyalist paramilitaries, those warned include many members of the IRSP and we are concerned that the lives of our members are under risk. "The RUC have visited the homes of people and informed them of the threat to their lives but they have refused to say from what organisations these threats are coming from. We are calling on the RUC to name these organisations, they have no difficulty in naming organisations whom they believe are involved in punishment attacks but seem to have developed selective amnesia when it comes to naming organisations involved in threats against the nationalist community." In conclusion the IRSP representative said: "It is important that these organisations are named as it is the IRSP's belief that these threats are emanating from organisations supposedly on cease-fire, their political representatives are probably on the TV nightly spouting about peace whilst their military wings are planning a murder campaign to be waged against the nationalist community. The wider community have a right to know and the RUC is protecting the identity of those engaged in this threatening campaign."
