In addition to members of Congress, victims of secret evidence will present their stories. Hany Kiareldeen, released in October, spent over 19 months behind bars solely on the basis of "evidence" believed to be nothing more than the false allegations of an angry ex-wife. He will be joined by Nahla Al Arian, whose brother Mazen al-Najjar is approaching the 1,000 day of incarceration on the basis of secret evidence. Tomorrow's hearing is on the Secret Evidence Repeal Act of 1999 (H.R. 2121), whose sponsors will speak at the news conference. NOTE: In a separate event, A Summit on Secret Evidence on Wednesday, February 16, will bring large community attendance to a Capitol Hill forum on secret evidence with members of Congress and victims and their families.
