Int'l Day of Protest Against Police Brutality Via NY Transfer News * All the News That Doesn't Fit source - McNabbUC@prodigy.net Wed, 26 Apr 2000 23:26:34 -0400 Cincinnati Zapatista Coalition The Cincinnati Zapatista Coalition will be having a demonstration in Downtown Cincinnati at 5pm in support of Political Prisoners Leonard Peltier and Mumia Abu-Jamal, and against Police Brutality. We've all heard about Amadou Diallo, where the four cops who shot at him 41 times were acquitted of all charges. And surely, because of Rudolph Guiliani's comments and track record, we later heard of Patrick Dorismond, yet another unarmed African-American male who was killed very soon after that Diallo verdict. You may also have heard about Young, Jr. out of Rhode Island, who was an off duty police officer, or even of Obregon in Houston, who's apartment was illegally entered (no warrant) and who was shot in the back several times. No weapons nor drugs were found in his apartment. But, there are local victims of Police Brutality as well (Collins and Carpenter in Cincinnati, Rudolph in Louisville, and others). The International Concerned Family and Friends is calling for a National Day of Action for Mumia and for the victims of Police Brutality. The Cincinnati Zapatista Coalition has decided to be a part of this national action. We hope everyone will attend and take a stand with us. If you have any questions, concerns, comments, ideas please call us at (513) 232-0362 OR (513) 325-4179. Thank You!
