Azerbaijan keeps open air corridor for US planes - official

BAKU, October 20 (Itar-Tass) - Azerbaijan provides a special air
corridor for U.S. planes involved in the anti-terrorist operation in
Afghanistan, the chief of the presidential staff foreign relations
department Novruz Mamedov said Saturday.

"Planes delivering humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and equipment for
the anti-terrorist operation have repeatedly used our air corridor
and will continue using it," the official said.

Azerbaijan`s President Geidar Aliyev said at a special ceremony
marking the country`s 10th independence anniversary several days ago
that "in the struggle against international terrorism Azerbaijan
acted in alliance with the United States".

"Azerbaijan will make its contribution to the struggle against
terrorism," Aliyev said. str/gor
