SEA SHEPHERD BUSTS ANOTHER POACHER OFF COCOS ISLAND Via NY Transfer News * All the News That Doesn't Fit source - "Andrew Christie" COCOS ISLAND, COSTA RICA -- The Ocean Warrior returned to Cocos Island National Park on September 5, and on Friday aided Park rangers in the capture of another commercial vessel found fishing eight miles inside the protected waters of the island preserve. The Primera 3, out of Puntarenas, will be formally charged with poaching. More than 2 kilometers of long line were retrieved from the water before the line broke. The Sea Shepherd flagship previously assisted rangers in the seizure of the Ecuadorian trawler San Jose and seven support boats on August 20. "This sort of thing is going on here every day," said Ocean Warrior Captain Paul Watson. "In ostensibly the world's most protected places, wildlife is under the most intensive assault. Enforcement is everything. This is why it is so imporant for us to be here, and why Sea Shepherd hopes to be able to find the means to engage in extended patrols of these waters and other places like this." The Ocean Warrior stopped at Cocos Island while en route to Los Angeles from a supply run to its conservation patrol boat in the Galapagos. Sea Shepherd Conservation Society 22774 Pacific Coast Hwy.
