Via NY Transfer News * All the News That Doesn't Fit ** WARNING ABOUT FORGED POSTS ON USENET NEWS, WORLDWIDE WEB ** NY Transfer says "Thanks for the flattery, but not the forgery" New York, Oct 12 (NY Transfer)--Some poor benighted fool who reads the gutter press (The Enquirer, The Star, et al.) is attempting, with various degrees of incompetence, to forge Usenet News posts (and even a free Geocities webpage) masquerading as items from NY Transfer News. Thanks for the flattery, kid... we're glad you are spending so much time telling us that we've gotten under your skin. It will keep you occupied so you can't do anything more substantial. The forged posts may allegedly come from "All the News That Doesn't Fit@yahoo.com," or from "NY_transfer_News@something or other" and the IP of the sender resolves to AOL and Mindspring. We've sent warnings and abuse reports to this character's bandwidth provider, as well as to Geocities, and Mindspring, and to Google Groups when the miscreant was reduced to posting via the Google Groups web interface. We suppose the forger is fretting about all the other responses to news items NY Transfer puts out. If he is reading Usenet news as assiduously as he reads the gutter tabloids, he may have noticed that the forces of war and evil are losing the propaganda war. All phony polls to the contrary, it appears from these, and from our weblogs, and from our private e-mail that Mr. Bush's Armageddon Crusade is NOT supported -- by the right, by the left, by the libertarians, or the vegetarians. These folks understand that the Bill of rights is not a subversive document. They support what America is supposed to stand for. The forger obviously does not.
