As I crossed the Brooklyn Bridge it was clear that people were jumping to their deaths to avoid the smoke. Thousands must be injured and the hospitals are asking for blood DONATE BLOOD BLOOD IS BEING ACCEPTED AT THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS: -CITICORP CENTER, E 67TH ST BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND AVE -RED CROSS, AMSTERDAM AVE BETWEEN 67TH AND 68TH ST -ST CLAIRE'S, 52ND ST BETWEEN 9TH AND 10TH AVE WITH SUBWAYS DOWN, IT'S A LONG WALK FOR A GOOD CAUSE Bellevue and St Vincent's are swamped (don't bother). In terms of volunteering, the hospitals only want RN's and MD's right now -- they are just too busy to even tell us what to do to help. If the transportation system doesn't get fixed, you may feel like offering a place to sleep to someone who's stuck in town. Be vigilant against the anti Muslim hysteria that could hit. We already ran into a guy who was spray painting 'Fuck Islam'. After a few stern words, and a talk about the Muslims who surely were in the World Trade Center when the planes hit, he helped us spray paint over his racist tag. White people in particular have a real responsibility here to protect our middle eastern brothers and sisters from the mindless, racist, reasonless attacks and finger pointing that are sure to follow this attack.
