During the course of the interview, the ever-vicious O'Reilly indicated that it was incredible that the professor was not aware of the hijackers' plans, and said that if it were up to him, he have the government following the professor everywhere he went, every moment of his life. Incidentally, the professor had already long ago cooperated with questioners regarding his knowledge, and is and was suspected of nothing remotely criminal himself. This outrageous and irresponsible attack took McCarthyism to a whole new level. O'Reilly's Arab-baiting stupidity was immediately repudiated by the administration of USF and by the otherwise conservative Tampa daily newspaper. Nonetheless, the Arab-American professor had to be removed from his position at the university, with pay, because of several death threats brought on by O'Reilly's fear-mongering. If enough people are offended, corporate advertisers will pull his plug. ================================================================= NY Transfer News Collective * A Service of Blythe Systems Since 1985 - Information for the Rest of Us 339 Lafayette St., New York, NY 10012 http://www.blythe.org e-mail: nyt@blythe.org ================================================================= nytrc-09.30.01-14:59:24-26919
