Get the description of the terrorist Posada as "once a CIA operative."] source - JosePertierra@aol.com Miami Herald - April 25, 2002 From Herald Wire Services EL SALVADOR Cuban Exile Charged in Castro Plot SAN SALVADOR - Federal prosecutors said Wednesday they had formally charged a Cuban exile with using false identification and documents in an alleged plot to kill Cuban President Fidel Castro. Prosecutors have accused Luis Posada Carriles of entering the country with false Salvadoran identification documents. Posada has been held since November 2000 in Panama, where he was arrested hours after Castro arrived and claimed the Cuban exile was planning to kill him during an Ibero-American Summit. Officials found the false passport during his arrest. Posada, once a CIA operative, [ONCE!?!] is accused by Cuba's government of a long series of plots against Castro and his communist government, notably the 1976 bombing of a Cuban jetliner in which 73 people died. A Venezuelan court found him not guilty of that and he escaped jail dressed as a priest before a retrial could be held.
