Bail denied in INLA Gun Case Via NY Transfer News Collective * All the News that Doesn't Fit source:IRSP Bail Refused in Alledged INLA Gun Case James Halligan, a 27-year-old Belfast man from Rockville Street, was charged with possession of an AK47 rifle, handgun, and ammunition. He was refused bail at the High Court today, October 22. Halligan was arrested after the firearms police alledge belonged to the Irish National Liberation Army discovered in a taxi which was stopped by police on the Andersonstown Road last week. The prosecution alledges that fibers from a pair of gloves, which they claim were found along with the guns , matched those taken from Mr. Halligan's jeans. Justice Coghlin said that he denied bail because possession of the weapons could only mean "a sinister purpose" was planned to cause "despair and desolation".
