Friends of Roisin: Worldwide Day of Action Via NY Transfer News Collective * All the News that Doesn't Fit Wed, 12 Nov 1997 23:22:54 -0600 (CST) Dr Alan Cheney ACTION ALERT On November 20, 1997, Roisin McAliskey will have been held by the British Government for a year without any charges against her, under inhumane conditions and without opportunity to be released on bail. The British Government routinely blames the German Government and the Germans remain curiously silent. Jack Straw IS able to prevent her extradition to Germany, and Germany is still able to drop the extradition warrant completely. NOVEMBER 20 has been designated a WORLDWIDE DAY OF ACTION. Demonstrations are being organized in cities all over the world. Also, if there is not a demonstration where you are or if you don't have time to organize one in your area, we ask that you set aside next Thursday, Nov. 20 as a day of action. This means flooding the British Home Office, the British Embassy, the German Justice Dept and the German Embassy with faxes, phone calls and emails on behalf of Roisin. I will be providing the addresses, phone numbers, fax numbers and emails to everyone and reminding everyone for the next week to please be prepared for next Thursday. I will issue a brief statement which you can use to send. We won't focus on long letters, but rather a to-the-point statement that lets these governments know in no uncertain terms that the international community is STILL waiting for Justice for Roisin. This is just the preliminary notice. Look for follow ups which will provide you with further details and information. If you are interested in organizing a demonstration in your area and need some advice, please feel free to email me. Thanks to everyone who is willing to participate in Roisin's Day of Action.
