GRENADE ATTACKS ON RUC

There have been two grenade attacks on Royal Ulster
constabulary (RUC)bases in south and east Belfast. British
army technical officers have carried out controlled
explosions on both devices and there were no injuries.

More than 50 people were moved out of their homes during the
breakfast-time alert at Willowfield police station when a
fragmentation grenade was found at 8am. It's thought the
grenade was thrown into the base during the night.

Another grenade was found in the rear yard of Ballynafeigh
RUC base in the early hours of the morning. No group has
admitted the attacks but they follow similar incidents in
Derry and Strabane which were carried out by the Irish
National Liberation Army.
