'PEACE DEPENDANT ON ATTITUDES'- EAMES

The Church of Ireland Primate of Ireland has said that peace
and stability would depend on the attitude of people rather
than any political settlement. Speaking today at Armagh, the
ecclesiastical capital of Ireland, Archbishop Robin Eames
said the bitter experiences of the past must not be allowed
to be a "curse casting a shadow of doom on another
generation".


He said future stability in Northern Ireland would not
depend on constitutional agreements, political talks or
legislation, but would operate on the attitude of people at
the grassroots. He said it was in the hearts and minds of
people on the ground that the ultimate decisions would be
made.
