IRSP Publication Launched: Stand by the Republic Via NY Transfer News Collective * All the News that Doesn't Fit Mon, 13 Oct 1997 23:05:48 source: irsp Stand By the Republic The Irish Republican Socialist Party in Britain is launching a new "Stand by the Republic", a quarterly periodical which will provide a voice to the Irish republican socialist perspective in Britain. With its first issue about to go into circulation, and plans made to follow shortly thereafter with an on-line version, located on the Irish Republican Socialist Movement's Web site at http://irsm.pair.com/irsm/, the new periodical is further testimony to the continuing growth in membership and political influence of the IRSM, which has fought its way back from having been nearly destroyed during the years between 1987 and 1993 as a result of violent attacks from the renegade IPLO and a concerted black propaganda campaign. The reemergence of the IRSP in Britain has been sufficiently unnerving to some there, that a public meeting scheduled for just one week ago in Camden was forced to cancel and reschedule when police shut down the event, claiming that Loyalists had threatened to bomb the site. Undetered, the IRSP GB has vowed to hold the event before the end of the month. The Irish Republican Socialist Committees of North America salute our comrades in our sister organization, the IRSP GB, on restoring an Irish republican socialist voice in Britain through the publication of "Stand by the Republic" and reiterate our continued solidarity with our British counterparts.
