SF Statement - 'Bloody Sunday' Via NY Transfer News Collective * All the News that Doesn't Fit Fri, 10 Oct 1997 09:12:50 +0000 source: Paddy Newell Sinn Fiin Nuacht Raiteas/News Release Shantollow, Derry City October 10, 1997 'Review of Bloody Sunday Inadequate' Commenting on suggestions that the British government is about to announce a Bloody Sunday 'review' Sinn Fiin's Mitchel McLaughlin said: "What is required is the setting up of an independent International Judicial Inquiry into the murders which occurred in Derry on Bloody Sunday. There must be no attempt to set up a second Widgery. The Bloody Sunday families deserve nothing less than a total repudiation of the Widgery Tribunal and a judicial panel of International stature set up to carry out a completely fresh investigation into all aspects of what transpired on that day. Any panel of investigation must be empowered to subpoena eyewitnesses and all documentation relevant to the planning and results of British military actions on Bloody Sunday." ================================================================= NY Transfer News Collective * A Service of Blythe Systems Since 1985 - Information for the Rest of Us 339 Lafayette St., New York, NY 10012 http://www.blythe.org e-mail: nyt@blythe.org ================================================================= nytire-10.12.97-22:28:38-12373
