And Ian Paisley's DUP (Democratic Unionist Party) demanded that the two fringe loyalist parties be expelled from the multi-party peace talks at Stormont for breaching the Senator Mitchell principles of non-violence. Party spokesman, Ian Paisley Junior said this evening: "If the loyalists can have their cake and eat it in terms of terrorism and politics, the the Provos will want it as well. It will send a signal to the Provisional IRA that the penalites for violence do not include expulsion from the talks process." Loyalist John Greer (28) died after an explosion destroyed his car in Bangor, Co Down, on Saturday. And later that night serious street fights between rival loyalist groups broke out in Derry city. Tensions within loyalists have been high since the Ulster Freedom Fighters withdrew from the Combined Loyalist Military Command unbrella group after disagreements over strategy and a series of internecine quarrels. __________________________________________________________ The Irish American Information Service is a non-profit orginization provding up-to-the-minute objective coverage of news as it happens in Ireland and the North.
