It's the first test of the new Burnham Truce, which allows free movement for all on Bougainville. Mark Bowling reports: Sylvester Vane is one of the rebel leaders most wanted by Papua New Guinea's Defence Force. He masterminded activities in the northern part of mainland Bougainville, including alleged kidnappings and murders of soldiers and police. Vane was injured in a car accident last week and rushed to hospital for urgent medical treatment. He was released after one day. PNG officials say despite his past activities, under the terms of the new Burnham Truce agreed to by all sides in New Zealand last month, Vane like any rebel now has the right to travel freely. ------------------------------------------------ Comment: What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
