          KLAN CHIEF WORKED FOR SECURITY FIRM FOR YEARS
 
     Bryan Taylor, a leader of the Ku Klux Klan in British
Columbia, was fired from his job at ADT Security Systems earlier
this summer. Taylor had worked for the private security company
for over ten years, and had been actively promoting the Klan
since 1995. At one point he was found photocopying racist
literature with the ADT office copy machine, but was only fired
when anti-racists proved that he had mailed Klan material with
the company mail meter.
 
     According to Alan Dutton of the Canadian Anti-Racism and
Research Society, "It is part of the right-wing agenda to be in
security-sensitive positions, to eventually form a white
homeland. And BC is one of the areas they have expressed interest
in."
 
     Indeed, there is a long history of members of the racist
right finding employment in law enforcement agencies, both public
and private. In Canada, an incomplete list of such champions of
law and order would include Wolfgang Droege, leader of the
practically defunct Heritage Front. Droege worked for Accurate
Bailiff Services. ABS is a happy little Toronto-area bailiff
company run by one Al Overfield, a veteran fascist from way back
when in the days of the Edmund Burke Society. Along with Droege
and Overfield, Grant Bristow also worked for ABS - all as part of
his cover while working for the Canadian Security Intelligence
Service.
 
     Apart from Droege, Bristow and Overfield, there was Charles
Scott, leader of the Aryan Nations in BC until he was driven out
of the province by anti-racists. Not only did Scott work for a
private security company, but he found employment giving classes
in hand to hand combat to the local armed forces regiment: the
12th Vancouver Medical Corps!
 
     Of course, this should come as no surprise, as anyone whose
ever had the bad taste to hang out with a bonehead will tell you
that the big jerk off fantasy of many a fascist boy is to become
a man in the Canadian Armed Forces. The case of Matt McKay, the
neo-nazi from the disbanded Canadian Airborne Regiment who was
implicated in the homophobic murder of Gordon Kuhtey in Winnipeg
is well known. The activities of his nazi pals in the Canadian
Airborne are equally well known, but nobody seems to give a shit
seeing as their prime victims were Somali teenagers. Nor was the
Airborne the only regiment to include open neo-nazis - and this
is even more the case since the Liberals disbanded the nazi unit,
dispersing its members throughout the military.
 
     Going back before the nineties, the list of fascists working
for public or private security concerns gets too long to cover in
this forum. To mention a few: Michel Laroque (Ku Klux Klan),
William Lau Richardson (Klan Intelligence Agency, Centurion
Investigations, RCMP), Robert Toope (Western Guard Party and
RCMP), Carney Nerland (Aryan Nations and RCMP), and let us not
forget the Edmund Burke Society, a far right youth gang set up in
the late sixties with help from the Toronto Red Squad!
 
     Like they say: Cops 'n Klan go Hand in Hand!
