IPR's Siempre Boricua Benefit 12/5 NYC Via NY Transfer News Collective * All the News that Doesn't Fit from the Institute for Puerto Rican Policy (IPR) 1982-1997: Celebrating 15 Years of Service! Institute for Puerto Rican Policy's 15th Anniversary !SIEMPRE BORICUA! BENEFIT FOUNDERS' AWARDS AND CELEBRATION "Celebrating a new beginning .. and honoring our past" Friday, December 5, 1997 7pm-9pm Awards Reception Buffet Criollo Open Bar (7-8pm) 9pm-3pm Dancing El Caney-Cafe 154 West 26th Street New York, NY 10001 212-206-6760 Admission (tickets only available at the door the evening of the event; no table reservations will be accepted): * $100 per person for Awards Reception and Dance * $50 for Dance alone (9pm-3pm) With all the negotiations and preparations for our merger with the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund (PRLDEF) over the last six months, we just haven't had sufficient time to plan our annual benefit at the level to which we have become accustomed. Once we start working at PRLDEF, we look forward to resuming the full- blown benefit reception and dance next year in order to continue the tradition. But we felt we needed to celebrate this new phase in the Institute's development this year with our friends and supporters. So we have decided to hold a much more "intimate" event on Friday, Dec. 5, 1997 at El Caney-Cafe' in Manhattan, owned by a former Board member of the Institute. This year's theme will be "Celebrating a new beginning and honoring our past." This event will go from 7pm to 3am and will feature a founders' and friends' award ceremony from 7-9pm, when we will have a buffet criollo dinner and an open bar. From 9pm to 3pm, it will be a dance. We look forward to presenting many surprises, from celebrities to unusual prizes. Admission will be $100 per person for the both the awards ceremony and the dance, and $50 for the dance only from 9pm on. The venue can only hold a couple of hundred guests, and tickets will only be sold at the door with no table reservations. We will be sending you more details in a week or so. We hope you and your friends will be able to join us on this special evening. It is a time when we need to acknowledge the many people and institutions in our past that supported the work of the Institute as we mark our 15th Anniversary. At the same time, we will be embarking on a new adventure that this event will help officially launch. Let me take this opportunity to thank you for all of your support. I look forward to seeing many of you on Friday, December 5th! ******************************************************** The above was posted on the ipr-forum of IPRNet: The Information Service on Puerto Rican Issues of the INSTITUTE FOR PUERTO RICAN POLICY, Inc.
