The Center For Constitutional Rights called the mobilization with the support of various community groups. CCR is also preparing to wage a legal battle on behalf of many victims of police brutality. Gabriel Torres of the Center for Constitutional Rights and a former member of the Young Lords is national coordinator for the Sept. 12 demonstration. Torres told Workers World: "Police brutality is a problem that goes as far back as Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X, the Black Panther Party and the Young Lords. The quest to unite against police brutality is still a living reality today." Workers World Party has endorsed this important progressive event, and encourages everyone to participate on Sept. 12. It is poor and working people who are victimized by racist killer cops.
