Blair Dismisses Seitz Allegations/IAIS Via NY Transfer News Collective * All the News that Doesn't Fit BLAIR DISMISSES SEITZ ALLEGATIONS 02/03/98 11:15 EST British Prime Minister Tony Blair has dismissed fears that alleged security leaks to the IRA have caused the British government doubts about the Clinton administration. He was commenting for the first time on claims by former US envoy to Britain Raymond Seitz about the role of some White House staff and the US embassy in Dublin. In his memoirs, Seitz said the British government withheld sensitive information because they could not trust the US administration. But Blair said he had "no problems" and praised Clinton's rock-solid support for his peace strategy. Blair was speaking ahead of tomorrow's visit to Washington where the peace process will be on the agenda when he meets Clinton. He said: "No, we don't have any difficulty at all in sharing any of our thoughts or things we may know about Northern Ireland with our American colleagues. "I would pay tribute to the tremendous support certainly I have had from the American president on Northern Ireland." __________________________________________________________ The Irish American Information Service is a non-profit organization providing up-to-the-minute political news from Ireland to the world.
