Dear Nicanet Hotline readers,

We have just learned that our correspondent in Nicaragua misreported the
amount of anti-drug funding that the US will be providing to the Nicaraguan
police this year -- it is $405,000 and not $400 million.  Nevertheless, this
does represent an increase and a clear move to militarize US drug policy in
Nicaragua.

Regardless of the actual amount sent to the Police, we oppose US
counternarcotics aid to Nicaragua, and would still encourage you to contact
your Congresspeople on this issue.
