Stand in solidarity Delegation to Chiapas 7/99 Via NY Transfer News Collective * All the News that Doesn't Fit from the Mexico Solidarity Network May 31, 1999 Multi-National Delegation to Chiapas July 2-9, 1999 Stand in solidarity with our indigenous brothers and sisters in Chiapas, Mexico, in their struggle for autonomy, democracy, dignity and justice. Concerned citizens from throughout the Americas will join indigenous communities in Chiapas as their invited guests. Last year's multi-national delegation drew 86 participants from six countries. Participants will spend two days in San Cristobal de las Casas learning about the current situation in Chiapas from human rights experts, religious leaders and analysts. Delegates will split into small groups and visit indigenous communities throughout the state. Learn firsthand from people involved in a profound struggle for land, democracy and justice. Learn about the impact of US economic and military policies on our neighbors to the south. A report prepared by the delegation will provide a panorama of conditions in every corner of Chiapas. The report will be distributed to members of Congress, the media and grassroots constituencies. The cost of $400 (plus plane fare) includes most food, hotels, ground transportation, translation and program. To make plane reservations, please contact Scott at 800-328-1332.
