Kosovo: Communique from COMUNISTES de CATALUNYA Via NY Transfer News Collective * All the News that Doesn't Fit source - "contracorriente" COMMUNIQUE FROM COMUNISTES de CATALUNYA June 12, 1999 KOSOVO The military hordes of the USA-NATO imperialists are entering Kosovo. They are accompanied by the gangsters of the KLA to serve as their provocateurs and provide all necessary drugs and prostitution. Appearing in Pristina without orders from the USA-NATO alliance, the Russian Army has reacted with anti-imperialist firmness in solidarity with Yugoslavia. It is a gesture that honors the Russian Army if it effectively continues to control the situation. Economically dependent on the imperialists and their international organisms, Russian policy debate alternates between those economic links and the fear of knowing that the agenda of imperialism in the region is to destroy and occupy Russia. The NATO forces that are entering Kosovo are the vanguard of a rehearsed imperialist invasion whose next objective is the total occupation of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. This was and continues to be the goal of Rambouillet, now focused in a concrete and practical way. The imperialists forces advancing in Kosovo encompass units prepared for criminal wars of aggression, with nothing so far removed from humanitarians like the Gurkhas British regiments, the US Marines, the Spanish Legion, the Turkish infantry, the "elite" units of the IV Reich and others. The continuation of the imperialist campaign of aggression is authorized by resolution of the United Nations Security Council, which, in fact, allows renewed attacks without pretext. General Clark has full "world" powers to invade beyond Kosovo. USA-NATO did not go to Kosovo to conduct works of charity for the Kosovar people, which it evicted with their bombings and the help of the KLA. The provocation for the new imperialistic offensive has been announced and facilitated by resolution of the UN Security Council. If the imperialists are able to -if there are not powerful anti-imperialist actions, like the first steps taken by the Russians, and accompanied by a great international mobilization- then the invasion of Yugoslavia could be carried out this summer. On the other hand, the historical moment of revenge that is fast approaching for imperialist Germany, having been dealt the crushing defeats in two world wars this century, must be considered. Hand in hand and under the hegemony of the Yankees and with the support from Western Europe, the IV Reich has begun its imperialist war with eyes set to the East: the fields of Ukrania, the petroleum routes, the large natural and strategic reserves of Siberia and others. Fifty-four years after their last great historical defeat at the hands of the Red Army, begun on the banks of the Volga in the battle of Stalingrad, German imperialism now travels the same Eastern routes again, beginning with the Balkans, like in the last world war. Who can now stop the imperialistic hordes united and armed with the most advanced, criminally designed technology? Although the heroic Yugoslavian resistance has been exemplary, the objectives of the imperialists go farther. Threatened nations and peoples can only face the assault if their servile governments bow meekly to the dictates of the IMF, the World Bank and the imperialists. Not unlike Russia, exploited by corrupt capitalism, these governments become paralyzed and drained of all energy for the struggles and tasks ahead. We particularly denounce the participation of the Spanish army in this imperialist military campaign. Just like Franco dispatched the "blue division", fashioned by Nazi German army to attack the Soviet Union, it now sends Legion units to the Balkans in an attempt to occupy Yugoslavia on the way toward Russia, according to the plan elaborated by the USA, England, and the German IV Reich. The Spanish Legion has its own macabre history. It was not only the vanguard of Spanish colonialism against the liberation struggles of the oppressed peoples of northern Africa. It was also especially distinguished in 1934 for their bloody repression of the heroic, mining revolutionaries of Asturias and the Fascist war conducted by Franco in 1936 against workers, the Spanish Republic, Catalunya and the Basque Country. We have said many times that there would be a before and an after to the imperialist criminal aggression against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Imperialist attempts to perpetuate their final stage have altered the famous Clausewitz proposition: "war is the continuation of politics by other means." For the imperialists today, war is "in the position of control," to the extent that politics have become the continuation of the war by Fascist means, in order to prepare for new aggressions and imperialist military conquests. Nowadays imperialism suffocates under bourgeois democracy. Fascism and war is their natural means of development. This is an obvious and undeniable reality. Imperialism is imposing the forced militarization and fascistification of political life inside the great imperialistic block. The democratic-bourgeois politics that shined upon capitalism, confronting the medieval barriers and sweeping them today in their final stage, are seen by imperialism as a great obstacle for its survival. The market has substituted politics, opening the way to ongoing imperialistic aggressions to conquer and dominate all world markets. In this manner, imperialism sets aside the old bourgeois-democratic barriers, irreversibly substituting them with fascist methods and imperialist wars of aggression and conquest. The capitalist system, in its final stage, has taken on the armor of a ravaging, feudal, imperialistic regime that gravely threatens and attacks the present and the future of the humanity. Although the imperialists used all possible means to destroy the USSR and most of the socialist camp, the conquests of the October Revolution have left a deep print on the hard-working masses. Today millions of proletarians in Russia and other countries are experiencing what it means to restore capitalism: poverty, hunger, mortality, closings, months without collecting wages, police repression; shortages in housing, schools, medicine and other social conquests, while drugs, prostitution, corruption and trafficking mobs abound... The revolutionary potential in Russia, and the rest of the old socialist camp, alongside their possession of atomic weapons is something that the imperialists consider a serious obstacle for their plans of total and absolute world domination and the desire of perpetuating themselves beyond their historical limits. That is why they aim for Russia and its wealth. Yugoslavia has neither capitulated nor surrendered. The imperialists have not accomplished the objectives of Rambouillet nor the quick conquest that they expected from the massive and continuous bombings. To adopt the imperialist version of the military defeat of Yugoslavia is to believe the false objectives of their military aggression with which they have manipulated and intoxicated a great part of world public opinion. Analyzing current events by dogmatic and sectarians means clouds reality and contributes nothing to organize and develop resistance to the anti-imperialist struggle, as well as unite. As long as communists say: let us demand more from ourselves, let us objectively value the heroic anti-imperialist resistance of the peoples and nations that, under the worst international conditions, are confronting the savage assaults of the imperialist block directed by the USA and as long as communists build a strong and wide anti-imperialist front, with the ideological and political diversities that correspond to the reality of the struggle every imperialist criminal aggression will generate anti-imperialism. Given the current situation we raise the question: what more could be asked from the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia? Why demand more from an anti-imperialist Milosevic than from the Soviet Union, the Red Army and Lenin himself in the struggle against German imperialism, after the Bolsheviks took power? Remember the peace of Brest-Litovsk. There is no historical comparison to the destructive means of war employed today by the imperialists. And it must not be ignored that, in the eve of the imperialist aggression, the government presided by Milosevic would not privatize the state sector of the economy more than 2 percent in defiance of IMF demands. And it is necessary to support not only the Yugoslav people and their army, but also President Milosevic, while he is the center of the imperialistic attack, for fulfilling a patriotic and anti-imperialist duty. With maximalist opinions during these moments of revolutionary retreat we can merely speak Marxism, but we won't change reality. A long epoch of historical experience confirms it. Besides, we are at a historical crossroads in which the future of humanity is at stake. We also want express the hope of unity and the determination of continuing the fight of many anti-imperialists who are adhering to the Internationalist Manifesto and who, like us, are absolutely open to all the suggestions and initiatives that could reinforce and enlarge a wide front of struggle against imperialism, and be willing to continue the work begun by said Manifesto. USA-NATO imperialists, Out of Yugoslavia and of the Balkans! Death to imperialism!
