Letter supporting Amazon.Com Via NY Transfer News Collective * All the News that Doesn't Fit ............................................................... source - Newseire@aol.com *Subj: The Committee and David Trimble RE: Amazon removing books due to pressure from David Trimble and other British Representatives I just wanted to send a quick note to urge you to please stop giving in to the demands of the British Government or their representatives threats! I absolutely love your company and do not want to see the United States hard fought right to the freedom of speech damaged by those who we fought against in the 1700's for this precious right. David Trimble has only the truth to fear and now that the British Empire is crumbling and more and more people are learning about the atrocities that they have put the Irish and several other nations of people through - they are scared! He may have been given the Nobel Peace Prize award - but who voted? It surely wasn't the people that he and his government are responsible for discriminating against, imprisoning, torturing and murdering. In years to come there may be another book written by someone else that will reveal how Mr. Trimble actually acquired this award as well... I would think that it would be up to David Trimble to prove that there are slander or libel statements in any book before it is prematurely pulled off of Amazon or any other booksellers stock. This medieval-type of witch hunt should not be directed at retailers or their consumers. The British Government will not be able to hide the truth for long anyway but please don't curtail your customers right to buy a book because it may offend someone else. If that's the case you may want to remove all of your stock from the AMAZON UK shelves and close up shop, because there will always be someone that is unhappy and threatens to sue you in Britain over a book!
