Nato blitz is Vatican plot: 
Paisley church

AN INTERNET website run by Ian Paisley's Free Presbyterian
Church has claimed Nato's blitz on Serbia is nothing more than a
Papist plot.

For while many have doubts about the intensive campaign, the
European Institute of Protestant Studies claims
Vatican-manipulated media is behind the present onslaught.

"The fact is that the former defence alliance NATO is doing the
dirty work of the Vatican-sponsored neo-fascists of Europe," it
claims.

The website, billed as a sister site of the Free Presbyterians'
web pages,  calls on net surfers to visit Dr Paisley's site for
the latest on the Kosovo crisis.

Accusing NATO of "turning to terrorism" it claims the Serbs have
been falsely portrayed by "Vatican-controlled media" as being the
aggressors against the Kosovo Albanians when the blame lies,
according to them, with the Albania Kosovo Liberation Army.

And it brands President Clinton and British Prime Minister Tony
Blair no less than "the executors of Vatican policy" in a campaign
which it claims is reminiscent of Nazi propaganda.

The lengthy article, which heaps praise on the sermons of the fire
brand minister, draws parallels between the Serbs and Protestants
in the north.

"The Serbs, like the Protestants of Northern Ireland have been a
consistent thorn in the flesh of the Vatican and in particular in its
more recent plans to set up an EU super state..." But Justin
McCamphill, a member of the SDLP executive who read the page,
said: "It's bizarre. It reminds me of those who denied that the
holocaust was taking place in Germany."
