The People's Defeat - IRSP Via NY Transfer News Collective * All the News that Doesn't Fit source - irsp@netwizards.net Wed Jun 9 03:35:01 1999 THE FOLLOWING IS THE TEXT OF AN ADDRESS GIVEN BY Terry o hEarcain, Co-ordinator of the IRSP in Britain So, it's over. On Monday of last week I woke up for the first time since I was nine years old to find I was not at war. I woke up to find that all the tired old cliches were true. People who always shied away from my political beliefs were calling me on the phone to tell me what a great guy I was and how they had always respected the IRSP and myself. What a load of phoney ballsology! Those people who are now crawling out of the woodwork in this new post nationalist world to tell us how they did a great job during the war must need their "Bumps Reading" if they think were going to swallow that one. It was the people who bore the brunt of that Great War, not the quasi nationalists and socialists (with small s'and n's) who are appearing from under their stones to claim a part in "victory". Sad news I am afraid lads and lassies. The war is over the good guys lost. The war is over the people lost. The people do not know it yet but they have lost big style. They have lost not because they lost the will to fight but because they believed in the leadership of the former republican movement, they lost because some of their leaders took them to the top of a mountain and showed them a Promised Land. They were shown a land where sectarian injustice would not dog their every step a land were all could live in peace. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. You see when Gerry Adams, John Hume, and Bill Clinton had our ones up there if they had looked over their right shoulders they would have seen David and Ken up the same mountain promising the exact opposite to the people of Ulster. The Promised Land for them is a return to Stormont, a neutered and defenceless IRA and the re-enthronement of the Protestant land for a Protestant people ethos. More ballsology, The reality is clear. Their has been a blatant attempt to buy both communities by offering them what they want in small doses but how are David and Ken going to deliver to their people if our own three musketeer's are going to deliver a united Ireland to us. The answer is no one can deliver any thing. The Good Friday agreement is not now nor has it ever been worth the paper it was written on. The only hard and fast thing to come out of it is the fact that there will be No-Union American company's exploiting our work force for buttons and the much vaunted Green majority (by the year 2010) will be nullified by the shameless use of USA Green Cards to send 50,000 of our young people away in the biggest migration of Ulster youth since the famine. If one third of our youth come home we will be lucky. I am sorry to point this out but the people have been sold a pup. They don't know it's a pup yet but they soon will do when the time comes to deliver all that the Three Musketeers have promised. And, on the Loyalist side will David and Ken have much more luck? I think not. When the house of lies Tony and his side kick Peter "the dome" have created comes falling down it will be the people of the occupied six counties who will have to live with consequences. The IRSP and the INLA should not be in the business of bringing the GFA down its own falsehoods and contradictions will do that. It is rather the aim of the Republican Socialist Movement to set out to do what it was always intent on doing building a strong revolutionary party of the Irish Working Class in the mould of Connelly, Costello, McGlinchey and Gallagher. For those reasons alone I applaud the more than historic decisions by the INLA to recognise the will of the people to let the political leadership of the former republican movement have its chance to tilt at these windmills in a desperate attempt to stave off what is coming. However it is the three Musketeer's who must now justify to our people why they are going to sit in a Government (North and South) with the most repressive anti Irish laws in 100 years. To them I say, "we in the IRSP have not gone away you know we will always be hear to remind you that you do not have a monopoly on Irish thinking or the struggle. " To the Irish in Britain we say, "Freed from the constraints imposed on us by the English during the war we will now emerge in this land as those who will take on the issues the Plastic Paddy groups will not represent you on." In the next week we will be contacting Jack Straw to ask for an urgent meeting on the issues the FIA are blind to. The Anti Irish racism of elements of the English tabloid press and the bloody attacks on our people here it generates. The exclusion of Republicans and their supporters from employment because of their activities. The return of the Manchester Martyrs to the Irish Community here for proper burial. And last but not least the scandalous treatment of former prisoners of war by the English. It is time for us to bind up the wounds of our people and go forward in to the new post Nationalist world and face what ever there is to face as a people. For when the agreement falls, as it surely will, I will only be the unity of the Irish Working Class that we are attempting to build now that will save us as a people from slip sliding back into sectarian strife that suits no one save the Britz and their American masters. For war is no longer an option.
