A total of 102 ballot boxes were registered prior to the time of counting, according to Provincial Electoral Officer Mr Mathias Pihei, who said a total of 110 ballot boxes were dispatched. Counting was being done at the central counting room located at the Hutjena Provincial High School hall while the conference room at the Buka Police Station is being used as the tally room. Four teams comprising 45 personnel, most of them public servants, have been engaged for the counting which is expected to be completed at daybreak today, said Mr Pihei. He said, 20 security personnel provided by the police have been deployed during the period of counting. Counting of votes will be also closely monitored by the Peace Monitoring Group, said Mr Pihei. Meanwhile, acting Administrator Mr John Siau has commended the Mr Pehei and the returning officers for playing a vital role in running the Bougainville Elections under difficult circumstances.
