One killed, 3 missing after Iranian copter crash

TEHRAN: A pilot was killed and three passengers are missing and feared 
drowned after an Iranian oil ministry helicopter crashed in the waters 
of the northern Gulf on Saturday, state television said.

The Alouette-type helicopter was travelling between the Abouzar oil 
drilling platform and the port city of Bushehr when it went down after a 
mechanical failure, the report said.

Contrary to earlier reports, the television said the pilot was killed in 
the crash and that an injured passenger was rescued and had been 
hospitalised.

Another three passengers are still missing, and a local official was 
quoted as saying search and rescue operations were continuing. The 
accident occurred near the island of Kharg, site of the country's main 
oil terminal.
