RALLY IN BROOKLYN TO STOP THE WAR AND THE DETENTIONS SUNDAY, JUNE 9th 2002 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM Corner of Coney Island Ave. & Newkirk Ave. Subway: Q to Newkirk Ave. WAR IS NOT THE ANSWER * Thousands dead in Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq and Gujarat * Hundreds of thousands refugeed and orphaned as a direct result of war * Before 9/11: 60,000 US troops in 100 out of 180 UN member nations * Since 9/11: Troops deployed to South West & Central Asia, Colombia and Philippines * Over 1 million dead in Iraq from sanctions and a new US war is on the way STOP THE DETENTIONS AND DEPORTATIONS STOP RACIAL ATTACKS ON IMMIGRANTS AND CIVIL RIGHTS * Workers, community supporters, family members disappear overnight * Local police act as INS officers without training and guidelines * Thousands detained with no communication with family * Plans to make driver's license a national ID card Only the people can end the war across the Third World and in the US. On April 20, over 100,000 marched in Washington, D.C. adding to the growing international movement to end the war in Afghanistan and against the occupation of Palestine. Demand Peace With Justice 1. No more war: Remove all US troops from foreign countries and end US interventions 2. End Israeli occupation of Palestine now and stop US military aid to Israel 3. End communal violence in South Asia and remove Indian, Pakistani troops from borders 4. Universal nuclear disarmament: Money for social programs and education, not military funding 5.
