Read Chavez in His Own Words, Not 60 Mins Gringo Version Via NY Transfer News * All the News That Doesn't Fit source - Jose Perez DON'T WAIT FOR '60 MINUTES' IN GRINGO: READ A FULL VERSION OF WHAT CHAVEZ SAYS, IN HIS OWN WORDS People who don't want to wait for a truncated 60 minutes interview with Chávez can read what the President actually has to say, in his own words, here: http://cnnenespanol.com/2002/americas/05/05/venezuela.chavezhabla/index.html It's the transcript of an interview with Chávez and CNN en Espańol lead anchor Jorge Gestoso. It was broadcast in a couple of parts by CNN en Espańol a last weekend. *Needless to say* two "spics" talking to each other --even if one has the use of the CNN brand name and the other has made the greatest comeback since Lazarus of biblical fame, ain't news. But now that massa bawana Steve Kroft had deigned to talk to Chávez, gee, the AP is all over it. This is now important, new news because an important new news outlet, meaning, of course, one in English with an actual, genuine, white-bread reporter from the midwest doing the talking. When the same things were said in Spanish it was old news, not news at all, not worth noting. To rely on the white-bread English-language American press for information about Venezuela, Argentina, Cuba or elsewhere in Latin America is to condemn yourself to ignorance.
