Update: RHC website still in preparation
Via NY Transfer News Collective * All the News that Doesn't Fit
On March 28th, 2000 NY Transfer received e-mail from Radio Havana Cuba's Director General, explaining some recent problems that have made it hard for the station to maintain contact as usual with their online supporters. We are passing on this update to RHC's website visitors and news readers. -- NY Transfer
"We are very sorry for the abrupt fashion in which Radio Havana Cuba stopped communicating....
Complications stemming from the extraordinary coverage of the hijacking of Elian Gonzalez,
out-of-schedule broadcasts and internal difficulties regarding the attention [to] our e-mail
traffic, have undoubtedly led to the delay of this message. However, there is no justification.
"Once again, we want to convey to you our deepest appreciation.... Thanks to your solidarity,
Radio Havana made its way into the cyberspace, an experience then unknown to the station."
The note explains that RHC is still working on the design for their new Cuban site, and goes on to say that
"We are hoping to have the page completed in the near future, and we will then
make an official announcement. In the meantime, we reiterate to [NY Transfer]
our most sincere and profound gratitude."

FEB 12, 2000: RADIO HAVANA CUBA HARD AT WORK ON THEIR NEW WEBSITE
As we explained in the RHC Update of 15 January, Radio Havana Cuba is finally able this year to launch a website they can maintain themselves, on the Cuban webserver of columbus.cu. This year is also the station's 40th anniversary, and the staff at RHC has many exciting new ideas to enhance their internet presence, including an elegant re-design and some great new services. The new RHC site is very impressive, and we're sure you'll agree it was worth waiting for.
Unfortunately, this is also a time when Cuba's perspective on the news is especially needed, and RHC has not published their daily internet news summaries for almost two months. But you can still be informed while you're waiting for the new RHC website -- just visit Granma Internacional Digital on the world wide web. Granma Internacional Digital offers Cuban news in 6 languages, updated daily. This is an excellent news site recognized by Editor & Publisher Magazine as one of the Top 100 Sites in the World.
