INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY WITH THE PEOPLE'S WAR IN PERÚ

AUSTRALIA

Support the People's War in Perú!
Make Revolution in Australia!

"I am proud to be a member of the People's Guerrilla Army. As a soldier, as a Red fighter of Chairman Gonzalo, I too am willing to give my life for the Party and the Revolution to defend the new power we have gained all over the country." (Young woman guerrilla fighter- Video on the People's Committee of Ayacucho, Perú).

Eighteen years ago, the Communist Party of Perú (PCP by its Spanish initials) launched the People's War which has placed the revolution of Perú at the very forefront of the world proletarian revolution. The PCP has won the support of millions in Perú, and the world, and notwithstanding the "bend on the road" (capture of some of its leaders), has brought the reactionary Peruvian regime to the bring of collapse. President Gonzalo, the imprisoned leader of the PCP, has said that the best way to support the People's War in Perú is to make revolution in our own countries -that is why the Committee for the Revolutionary Communist Party of Australia (CRCPA) is struggling to build the Party again on the basis of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism.

NEW ZEALAND

The Workers' Party of New Zealand organizes an angry protest against Dictator Fujimori during his visit to that country.

Murderer Fujimori out, fascists are not wanted here! That was the slogan against dictator Alberto Fujimori in Auckland on June 12, while on a state visit to New Zealand. Close to 50 people gathered outside a gallery where this little lap dog of imperialism was to open an exhibition. A large police presence was called in to escort him, and for 2 hours the demonstrators kept up a barrage of chants denouncing the Peruvian regime and the murdering tyrant. Workers' Party representatives spoke about the People's War in Perú, the Communist Party (PCP), the leadership of the war, the role of US imperialism, and the terrible prison conditions for prisoners of war in Perú. Some University students present burned effigies of butcher Fujimori in preparation for the visit, which was only announced a week before his arrival. The supporters of the Peruvian revolution in Auckland distributed 1000 leaflets in support of the People's War.

Posters, press releases and a radio visit publicized the demonstration. As part of his visit, Fujimori attended an agricultural field day 100 km south of Auckland, but the bottom line is that the dictator was begging for more aid for his failing economy and more arms to combat the People's Army of liberation in Perú. Students from a nearby university put out hundreds of leaflets around, on the field day. In contrast, the New Zealand right-wing Government lavished praise on this dictator, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by Lincoln University in the South Island for dutifully obeying the orders of his masters.

A leaflet distributed to the people read: "The right-wing Government of New Zealand has surpassed itself. It has invited one of the world's bloodiest dictators to visit this country. Fujimori is hated by the masses of Peruvian workers and peasants because of his death-squad massacres and massive starvation of people. The Peruvian state is fascist to the core. Open your mouth in protest against the anti-people violence of the military, and the odds are you will be shot, or at the least, haled before a so-called tribunal of hooded judges to be thrown into jail, maybe for life. Thousands are jailed under frightful conditions, barely existing . Why is there a Civil War? For centuries, imperialism using violence has kept the majority of Peruvians in misery and poverty. In response to this, the people led by the PCP launched the armed struggle on May 17, 1980. In 1992, Fujimori and the military carried out a military coup, abolished the existing constitution and the few rights it provided in order to establish his unrestricted power. Millions of people live in terrible conditions well below the poverty line, and are being exploited by the giant US corporations for immense profits. Under these conditions, for more than 18 years, a People's War of liberation advances victoriously toward the conquest of power. It takes the form of a New Democratic Revolution against the sources of their oppression: imperialism, local monopoly capitalism and feudal land ownership. Today, the People's Army of Liberation controls a good deal of the countryside (approximately 40 percent of the national territory). The reactionary rulers have no trouble in getting their lies about atrocities accepted and published by most of the world's capitalist media. But the truth is invariably opposed to their claims. Although the forces of the old state are armed with planes, tanks, gunboats and the latest in automatic weapons, they can't crush the resolute will of the people to continue the armed struggle. Time after time, the reactionary armed forces launch bombing raids against the people in their villages. Already they have killed at least 30,000, whose deaths they then blamed on the People's Army and the PCP. But the figurehead of this fascist state, "President Fujimori", is being welcomed here by Mrs. Shipley and her right-wing Government. He is due to attend an exhibition at Auckland University's George Fraser Gallery, 25 Princes Street Auckland Central. Let's repudiate this ugly murderer. Join the protest demonstration to be held on Friday, June 12, 1998 at 6.30pm at 25 Princes Street Auckland Central.

Fujimori is a fascist murderer,
Long live the PCP People's War!

INDIA

Today, the armed struggles of Perú, Philippines, India and Nepal, led by their respective communist parties are in the forefront of the anti-imperialist struggle. In spite of severe repression, they are advancing toward the conquest of State power and the establishment of the people's democratic dictatorship as the first step in the long march to Communism. The Fujimori regime and imperialism dreamed to have defeated the revolution when they captured Chairman Gonzalo. But after a slight setback that is inevitable in any genuine revolution, the People's War has recovered and grown. Correctly, Chairman Gonzalo called his capture a mere "bend in the road." In the first half of 1997 alone, the People's Army of Liberation (EPL) was involved in 775 confrontations with the reactionary armed forces and police. Attacks have been launched in towns and cities, including the capital Lima. Even according to the enemy, the PCP has 23,000 armed guerrillas operating in an area equal to France and Spain put together. Since 1990, the People's War in Peru has passed from the stage of strategic defense to that of strategic equilibrium.

In India the armed struggle is being carried out by three Maoist parties. Our Party (CPI-PW) is strong in the states of Andhra Pradesh (AP) and in the vast forest region of central India (Dandakaranya). The other two parties, Maoist Communist Centre (MCC) and CPI (ML- Party Unity) have a strong presence in the state of Bihar. Our Party has units in six states of the country. While the Party is totally underground, with militant revolutionaries and central organizers as its core, the mass organizations (where possible) are legal. In the states of AP and Dandakararanya, all mass organizations have been banned and have to function illegally. The positions of the guerrilla units initiated in 1980, today are relatively consolidated and the organs of people's power are being developed. The major source of weapons is through ambushes and raids. For example, in November 1997 in the South Telagana region seven policemen, including two officers were wiped out. In Bihar, the MCC also has presence in a number of districts, with the Peasant Revolutionary Committees being the chief organs of power in the villages. The CPI (ML-PU) is also a strong force in some districts in the state of Bihar. The three Maoist parties are part of the All India Student and Cultural Organization (as a Federation of their local units).

RUSSIA.

I am a student at Moscow University. I am very interested in the political situation in Perú, especially about the developments of the People's War led victoriously by the leadership of the PCP. Here in Russia there is a great interest on the ideological documents published by the PCP and the current situation of the war. There are many documents of the PCP in English available in your web page, but they need to be published in other languages as well. Also, it is very important to continue publishing about the role of Comrade Stalin in the International Communist Movement. I have contacts with comrades of the Worker's Party of Russia (parlamentarian), and with great joy I must inform you that several members of its rank and file, especially the youth, support the PCP and the People's War. It is public knowledge that most (not to say all of them) of the Communist Parties that currently operate in Russia are revisionists who focus their struggle on the electoral arena. However, there is the rebellious youth in their bases who are anxious to learn the road of the International Communist Movement, above all MAOISM. I firmly believe that in the future in these Soviet lands, revolutionaries will surge who will follow the correct line, and rectify the treason perpetrated by the revisionists after the death of Comrade Stalin.

Comradely,
L. T. Moscow. June 14, 1998.

MAURITIUS

Greeting to the Comrades of the Communist Party of Perú (PCP) and the heroic People of Perú.

The Socialist Workers Party in this nation of the Indian Ocean sends you revolutionary greetings on the 18th anniversary of the glorious People's War led by the invincible PCP. Being a young party founded on January 20, 1997, we sincerely wish to establish contacts with genuine communist parties around the world. We would be very glad to establish a strong working relationship and learn from the PCP. Your experience could be of mutual benefit.
Comradely,
D. Edmond, General Secretary. (June 23, 1998.)

SWITZERLAND

"Nothing disheartens us, we know how to swim in turbulent waters,
we are not cowered by fear
we are not stopped by risks
Our lives are struggle,
more struggle
more struggle is true happiness."

(President Gonzalo.)

Dear Comrades,
Here is the new issue of the "Alborada" Magazine published in French and Spanish. It is the voice of the MPP-Switzerland, organization generated by the PCP. The handful of capitulators in Paris are trying to resurrect themselves with the distribution of a couple of revisionist texts. One of them is the old rag "Self-criticism of Margie Clavo" already unmasked and discredited by the MPP (the favorite material sought by the agents of reaction known as senderologists and revisionists like RCP-USA and Co-RIM). It is interesting to note that there is an apparent coordination (it can't be a coincidence) of the actions of the LOD in Perú and abroad (the extinct Sol Peru-Paris) as well as the gang of Bob Avakian. It is important to continue exposing and unmasking the reactionaries and revisionists abroad. The MPP statements on May First and May 17th, and the articles of The New Flag on the MRTA are now being distributed in the French language.
A supporter of the PCP.

COLOMBIA

¡Viva la Guerra Popular!
¡Viva el Presidente Gonzalo!
¡Abajo el Gobierno del Genocida Vendepatria Fujimori!

Here at the University of Bucaramanga have carried out rallies and graffiti paintings celebrating the 18th anniversary of the Peruvian revolution. The school authorities can't keep up erasing or removing our revolutionary paintings and postings. We read all the material published in MPP web page, but we must criticize you for not publishing enough in "Spanish." We can't hire a translator to read the documents in English. Why aren't you publishing the documents of the prisoners of war of 1986 and 1992? Please publish The New Flag in Spanish! Comradely,
P.P. May 17, 1998.

BRAZIL

Viva Chairman Gonzalo, the greatest living communist in the world! Eternal Glory to Compañnera Janet Talavera! Their example is the seed of new revolutionaries who struggle for a new dawn. El Diario is the voice of millions of Peruvian workers that is why it is at the service of the people.
May 17, 1998. S. M. Falcao.

CHILE

Free Sibila Arredondo de Arguedas and all Political Prisoners of Perú!
Greetings to the heroic People's War in Perú and the PCP from the collective "La Tuerta" University of Conception. The beginning of the 21th Century will mark the victory of the Peruvian revolution.
C. Gonzalez. November 28, 1997.

GREECE-ATHENS

Dear Comrades,
After reading the articles on RIM and Co-RIM (The New Flag, August 1997), I'd like to make only one point. The difference between the Co-RIM and RIM is clear. While Co-RIM is a Committee and can change at any time (by appointment, reelection or dissolution), RIM is the organization formed by Marxist-Leninist-Maoist parties, in which the PCP is one of the most important members. Many of the RIM's member parties are already involved in armed struggle (at different levels or stages) in their countries. Only these parties can criticize the RIM in the appropriate context. Enclosed is a copy of our statement disseminated in Greece and published in a Greek newspaper describing the progress of the People's War in Perú in 1997.
P. Petridis. Athens-Greece.

GREECE-SALONIKA.

There is interest in Greece about the developments of the class struggle in Perú, particularly on the People's War. I learned many interesting things from your web page, so please publish more documents of the PCP. Here is an extract of the Peruvian national situation that I have translated into the Greek language and was published and widely distributed in Greece:
"Perú became independent from Spain in 1821, and quickly turned into a republic dominated first by the British rule, and after WW II, it is the iron claws of U.S. imperialism that dominates the country economically, politically and militarily. There are formal presidential elections every 5 years, in which only the two factions of the big bourgeosie in power compete. Power is alternated between the bureaucratic and the comprador bourgeoisies. These two bourgeois factions are supported and funded by imperialism, mainly by U.S. imperialism. The revisionists groups in Perú legitimize every dictator in power, but are very weak even in the electoral arena they cherish so much. Revisionism hardly got 0.05% of the vote in the 1995 presidential elections, and in the second round of the election, they supported the candidate of the military and police, Kenyo Fujimori. Dictator Fujimori was elected "president" with the 18 percent of the eligible voters plus fraud. The Communist Party of Perú correctly boycotts every electoral circus and has been successful in each of them since an average of 75 percent of people (who registered to vote) either were absent or vitiated. Today part of the revisionist left supports a bourgeois loyal opposition to Fujimori headed by the former UN secretary Perez de Cuellar."

In Greece we had a Civil War after WWII, in which North American imperialism was able to destroy the Marxist rebels. After that until 1974, the leftist parties were not allowed to take part in the elections called by the ruling classes. Communists were murdered, tortured, exiled, etc. but the struggle continues.
L. Apantonopoulos. October 8, 1997.

KOREA

I am a South Korean student and was impressed by the consisting ideology of the PCP. I was never in Perú, but by reading your web page and videos on the People's War (e.g., the people of the Shining Path), I support and defend the armed struggle led by the PCP. In Southern Korea, a massive rebellion and strikes of workers took place during a entire month in January 1997, which cost the bourgeois classes and imperialism a loss of 5 billion dollars that brought the puppet South Korean government to its knees. The 500,000 workers were affiliated with the banned Confederation of Trade Unions, and students protested against the new anti-labor laws.

My organization distributes publications in support of the Peruvian revolution. The Korean nation is one! The People's War in Perú will win! Free Chairman Gonzalo and all PCP POWs now!
Comradely,
C. Yeungnam. June 19, 1998.

SPAIN

THE GALLEGO AND PERUVIAN PEOPLE UNITED AGAINST COLONIALISM
Comrades,

The people of Galicia have been subjugated to the brutal Spanish colonialism since the year 1463. They tried to annihilate our language, our culture, economy and all our national characteristics that we inherited from our forefathers almost 1,000 years ago. Despite this colonial oppression, our people continue to resist and fight against the Spanish imperialism. We are united in the Patriotic Front and its vanguard, the Communist Party. From this forgotten corner of peripherical Europe, which has a great similarity to the Americas, we send you an internationalist cry of Victory to the People's War in Perú!
¡Viva el Presidente Gonzalo!

Secretary General.

ITALY

On my behalf and several Italian political prisoners we reaffirm our support to the heroic People's War in Perú and the leadership of the PCP. We have translated to the Italian language the articles of the PCP published in the journal The New Flag. Revolutionary greetings.
Paulo Dorigo (Prisoner of War, Carcere di Opera, Milan).

FRANCE-PARIS

We are pleased to invite the international supporters of the People's War to the event "In Defense of the Political Prisoners and Prisoners of War in Perú" at the University of Paris (Residence Universitaria de Naterre, 8 allee de l'universite) on April 4, 1998.
Communist greetings,
Collectif TKP/ML and Atelier d'etudes Franco-Peruviennes.

FRANCE-NANTES

"What is the key point? It is Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, because it is a question of having a correct ideological and political line, and you can't have a correct political line unless you have the correct ideology." (Interview, Chairman Gonzalo).

I send you my international greetings for May 1st, the day of our class. More as ever, I pledge my support to the glorious People's War in Perú, and combat opportunism and revisionism (especially the one in London -Co-RIM). I'll prepare events for the celebration of the VI Military Plan of the PCP and the 18 Anniversary. A Communist greeting. L.T.

SPAIN

Thank you for the information on the invincible People's War in Perú and the great leader Chairman Gonzalo. In Spain, the PCE(r) continues the armed struggle against the fascist regime of Aznar. Another year of struggle has passed, and I am resisting in this rusted cell. The hypocrisy and cruelty of capitalism have no limits. The more they torture us, the more we resist. But our dreams will never be stolen by those thieves. We believe in that perennial light...in that beautiful flower: Communism. Victory will be achieved with the blood of our defeats. My unconditional solidarity to the glorious PCP and its leadership.
José Jimenez Fernandez. Prisoner of War (Grapo- PCE (r))

"...El viejo tronco podrido
por la traición y el silencio
resurgió de sus cenizas
rebrotando un tallo nuevo,
levantando la esperanza
sobre puños justicieros,
sobre el sudor campesino
y la furia del obrero,
sobre el llanto de los pobres,
sobre torturas y miedos...

Veinte veces `liquidados',
cien veces alzando el vuelo,
como semilla en la tierra
que vence crudos inviernos,
erre que erre en la brecha
contra tricornios y cuervos,
con las uñas, con los dientes,
con puños, gritos o versos..."

PUERTO RICO

"Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish caught, we will realize that we cannot eat money." (Wolf Robe in June 1909. Cree Indian saying in North America).

Dear Comrades,
Full of joy and optimism, in this 18th Anniversary of the armed struggle in Perú, I send my revolutionary greetings to the heroic fighters of the People's Army of Liberation and the brilliant leadership of the PCP today led by Comrade Feliciano. The People's War in Perú is an inspiration for the oppressed in the world. In Puerto Rico (PR) our people are courageously defending their nation, their dignity, their flag and culture against the Yankee military occupation and colonialism. The massive opposition and the strikes against the privatization of the telephone company is an example of resistance. But we are immersed in the class struggle. Just like in Perú, in my country (PR) there are lackeys who defend North American imperialism because they benefit from the colonial status. One of these is the U.S. Viceroy (or Governor) Pedro Rosello who says that "Puerto Rico is not a nation," that "Puerto was not invaded by Yankee troops on July 25, 1898, but they were invited to come in." The Commissioner Romero Barcelo says "there was no resistance." These are lies. The blood of our people who died defending my country and the prisoners of war who are languishing in several jails of this Empire, refute the babbling of these mercenaries.
Viva the 100th Anniversary of Struggle and Resistance Against Colonialism in Puerto Rico!
Yankee Go Home! ¡Viva Puerto Rico Libre! ¡Viva la Guerra Popular en Perú! ¡Viva el Presidente Gonzalo!
Edwin Cortés (Puerto Rican Prisoner of War. Ejército Popular Boricua. PA, USA.)

CUBA

"Man's dearest possession is life and it is given to him to live it, but one must live to feel no torturing regrets for years without purpose, to live is not seared with the shame of a cowardly and trivial past, so live that when dying, he can say `all my life and all my strength was given to the finest cause in the world, the liberation of mankind." (Words of the Soviet novelist N. Ostrovsky).

Dear Comrades,
Thank you for the documents of the PCP and the latest issue of The New Flag. The armed struggle in Perú is part of the world's revolutionary movement that is rising against social injustice and exploitation. Today's struggles develop in an uneven form, some more developed than others, with regard to ideology and practice. In Cuba, Maoist literature has been virtually banned since the late 1960's, but this is changing lately, especially after the fall of the former Soviet Union and the regimes in Eastern Europe. Only two years ago, I had a distorted view of the PCP. This is because the official government publications in Cuba reprint the press reports on Peru from the Fujimori regime, and the reactionary papers in Perú. From time to time Peruvian officials, including despised pseudo "leftists" of Fujimori's Congress (e..g., Moreno, Breña, Diez Canseco) visit the Island and slander the Peruvian revolution as "terrorists" at will. We are working here so that Cubans can learn about the real context of the People's War from the PCP documents.

Since the world revolution is uneven, many revolutionaries struggle in different forms and with different ideas. That's the reason why we must built a Communist International because the human aspirations for a new and better society is the same. That's probably why some honest people can't understand the PCP project in its full extent, and perspective. Reaction owns and manipulates all the media, and our space is extremely small. It is important that the PCP deliver its powerful ideology in a very systematic and clear manner in the limited space it has. The capture of Chairman Gonzalo has hurt me a lot. I thought it was a serious setback, but I gained strenght when I saw him on CNN (available in Cuba in Spanish) speaking from inside of a tiger cage when he said his capture was simply a "bend in the road." Chairman Gonzalo is the true greatest living communist in the world! By admission of the enemy, Comrade Feliciano is a tested leader, a forge of Gonzalo and the People's War. In appearance, Yankee imperialism is too mighty and eternal. As Mao taught, in reality it is a giant with clay's foot. It is digging its tomb everywhere in the world, from the Balkans, Middle East, Asia, Africa and Latin America. An old Cuban saying is, "while we struggle, we must carry with us two bags, one for our victories and the other for our defeats," there is no other way. We are not here to throw each other flowers or enjoy a saloon tournament. We are here to fight. As Chairman Gonzalo said in his Interview, if we are involved in this historic necessity, we must assume our responsibilities with "clear minds, resolute decisions and inextinguishable passion."

I am sure that the Peruvian revolutionaries will keep the Red banners of the revolution always high, following the examples of Marx, Lenin and Stalin. The society of eternal harmony and unity for all peoples in the world will be achieved only with golden Communism!

¡Proletarios del mundo, uníos!
¡Viva La Guerra Popular en Perú!

D.R. (Luces y Montoro- Plaza de la Revolución, Habana, Cuba).
